Caves and Terraces — Motion Graphic

Caves and Terraces is a custom motion graphic created for Lake Tahoe in Depth (2025), a 20-minute immersive film produced for the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center and shown at the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center. I led the visual concept, design, and animation, translating geologic research into a clear, spatial narrative. The piece visualizes long-term fault movement within the Tahoe Basin, showing how caves and terraces on the west side sit higher than same-age features on the east, confirming the basin’s east-side-down fault motion. This 2025 version updates the original 2011 film using contemporary motion and visual pacing.

My Role

Founded Omni’s in-house video department to support users after purchase and clearly communicate real-world use cases across the product line. I initially handled everything end-to-end, including writing, directing, shooting, screen-casting, editing, and producing. Once the program was established, I hired and led a three-person team, providing creative, art, production, and marketing direction as the department scaled.

Customer story film featuring Michael Werk, created to show how OmniFocus supports the day-to-day operation of Camp 1 Vineyard in Sonoma, California. I led the creative direction and narrative approach, and handled all on-site production, including cinematography and editing, shaping the story from concept through final cut.

Product Onboarding Videos

A video that is presented to users at the beginning of the OmniFocus first-run experience. Created to drive adoption of the free 14-day trial and give users a sense of how OmniFocus can help them. All four of our products received similarly styled videos.

OmniPlan Videos

A fun animated video series that teaches the basics of project planning, like how to wrangle your henchmen and all the resources in your secret lair! Provided creative direction.

Facebook Live Videos

For the launch of OmniGraffle 7, we experimented with using Facebook Live to promote the new features being released. We worked with a PM and a UX designer to highlight the application functionality.
